McLane Trucking

Danielle Spring scheduled the interview for me but failed in her promise to email me the details--things like the specific McLane location and address, Louis' last name, and specific office where the interview would be conducted.  I received no email so I called McLane.  The operator was helpful on my 2nd attempt when she connected me to HR Manager Ryan to whom I spoke and who gave me Louis' last name, Bautista.  I don't know what happened to Danielle.  I called her twice and she did not return either call by 6:10pm Wednesday.  I showed up at 9:30am on Thursday.  We'll see what happens.

CLAIMS ADJUSTER & COMPANIES HIRING

Well, well, well.  This was interesting.  I found CAT Adjuster.net from the Renfroe site.
And ClaimsPages.com.
And Great Insurance Jobs.com
ClaimsJournal.com
Here is a link to our CO page for your review:
Finding work as a claims adjuster can be challenging at first, as the work ebbs and flows. More importantly, well-qualified individuals get discouraged because they look all over the internet and see that most postings require experience. Don't waste your time with employment job search engines such as Monster, Indeed, CareerBuilder, etc. Most national and large adjusting firms will hire you without experience, but you do need to be persistent. Think of trying to get a job like an audition for the job. Show employers how resourceful, professional, and detail-oriented you can be.
Having a license and getting your basic Xactimate training helps put you ahead of a lot of candidates. As does becoming State Farm Certified. But what firms are really looking for are those intangible qualities: great communication and customer service skills, solid computer aptitude, good decision-making skills, and a strong work ethic. I highlight customer service skills because that is the one skill that's most important to break into the industry.
When it comes to applying for jobs and getting on Independent Adjusting Firm rosters, the more - the better. I see many people apply to only the largest firms and stop there without checking in or following up. Here are links to some of the top adjusting firms we recommend:
Renfroe  This is an independent adjuster.
CNC  Catastrophe & National Claims.  Adjusting Expectations.
We also have an Employer Directory available, spend some time researching these firms. In today's market, a lot of firms work on claims all over the country, so if you can help it, do not limit yourself geographically. Be willing to say yes and get your foot in the door!
The www.naiia.com site is another great resource as you can do a search for more localized adjusting firms. These companies do tend to want experience but are also the ones that will give you a shot if you network with them. When contacting them, I would recommend asking about the possibility of shadowing an adjuster, doing a ride-along or even mentoring opportunities.
Lastly, get out and network all you can! Meet insurance professionals, join local or national associations, and get your name out in front of people. Being willing to help out an agent or shadow an adjuster can go a long way!
I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other questions.

As you apply for Claims positions online, be sure to make knowledgeable references to the top claims processing software.  A little knowledge of any of this software might come in handy.

HOW ARE INDEPENDENT ADJUSTERS PAID?

There is a Fee Schedule, but it looks like thw schedule is negotiable.  https://adjusterpro.com/fee-schedules/

UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS EXAMS, A & B

The number and kind of certificates and licenses that are required to do any kind of work are astounding, regardless of what state you live in.  I used to live in California, only the third largest state by land mass, third to Texas, which is 2nd, and behind Alaska, which is the largest state by land mass.  Wow, the U.S. owns lots of territories.  How in the hell did they acquire so much?  Oh, yeah, that . . . .  Anyway, so lots of certificates and licenses are required no matter where you live.  I just learned of this certificate for UST Operator or Underground Storage Tanks Operator.  The position pays well, about $4,800 a month.  There are two exams apparently
EPA developed class A and class B UST operator exams to primarily help UST system owners and operators in Indian country meet the 2015 federal UST regulation requirement that designated operators to demonstrate knowledge.  October 13, 2018, is the deadline for designated operators to verify compliance with the requirement to pass an exam.

TWIC CARD

Starting on July 1, 2015 Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) applicants who were born in the United States, and who claim U.S. citizenship, must provide documents to prove their citizenship. Until July 1, 2015 TWIC applicants who were born in the U.S. may continue to certify that they are U.S. citizens by checking the box on the electronically signed TWIC application and bring documents as listed on the Universal Enroll Site, which can be found here.
TSA is making this change to align TWIC proof of citizenship requirements with those of other TSA programs such as the Hazardous Material Endorsement and TSA Pre-Check programs. Requiring proof of citizenship at the time of enrollment will ensure that all TWIC applicants meet eligibility requirements for the credential. If you have any questions about proof of citizenship be sure to check with the TSA or go to their website prior to your time of enrollment.

FABRICATOR & CNC OPERATOR

CNC OPERATOR FOR GRANITE & STONE

Pay Scale is much better at giving job descriptions and pay.

Job Description for Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Operator and Programmer

A computer numerically controlled (CNC) operator and programmer holds a highly specialized position found principally in production companies. They handle computer-programmed machinery that performs a wide variety of functions, such as drilling, cutting, or shaping materials. The raw materials handled by CNC machines may be too strong or dense for workers to shape or work with by themselves.
A CNC operator and programmer is largely responsible for writing the commands for these machines, inputting them into the CNC program, and making sure that written commands lead to desired outcomes. These commands also must be efficient and cost-effective. In addition, CNC operator and programmers troubleshoot problems by CNC machine users and, if those problems can't be treated, reporting them to supervisors.

Many companies ask CNC operator and programmer applicants to have prior experience with CNC machines (typically around three years). In addition, a company may ask for the applicant to have prior knowledge of specific machines (such as a particular type of ax used on the machine). CNC operators and programmers also must have the ability to be self-directed and communicate effectively. (Copyright 2019 PayScale.com)

Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Operator and Programmer Tasks
  • Properly and safely load and unload castings and raw materials in CNC machinery.
  • Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery.
  • Use gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Recognize, deploy and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.

CAN'T WORK FOR $15 OR $17/HOUR OR EVEN $19/HOUR FOR THAT MATTER

Delivery Driver, $135 to $195/day.  What's involved?  Have to have your own Ford Transit van.
$975/week divided by 50 hours equals $19.50/hour.  Isn't there a way that I can earn $20/hour over a 40-hour week?  Let me know when you find it.  Further, jobs that pay $15/hour @ 40 hours/week pay only $600/week, and that's before taxes, which means you're looking at more like $450/week.  Awful.
Ditto for $17/hour.  $17/hour times 40 hours is only $680.  Jeez.
