1.  Sprinter van. Ryder rents sprinter vans.  Sprinter vans from Mercedes are about $700/month with a 2-year lease.  Here are more prices.  They go up from $700/month.
2.  Cargo van.  Los Angeles.
3.  Straight truck.  Okay, so a Box Truck is a TYPE of STRAIGHT TRUCK.  Most straight trucks measure between 10 and 26 feet from end to end.  Straight trucks usually stand 8 to 10 feet tall.

Box trucks also have a lower center of gravity, which makes them less likely to tip over.  However, because they are enclosed, box trucks cannot transport oversized loads.  Straight trucks, on the other hand, can transport much larger loads.  They are also better suited for off-road driving and hauling heavy equipment.

Difference between a Straight Truck & a Semi-Truck.  A few more differences.

Atlantis Cargo Vans & Commercial Trucks is in La Puente.  Their number is 626-642-9159.

4.  Box truck.

I've seen these jobs come up frequently.  It's a cargo delivery service.  You have to lease a box truck and contract with the company.  So do two things today: one, call a few truck leasing companies in the area out there, and then put an inquiry into the company to find out what they pay, how many stops are in one day's pay, how they pay [by the stop, by the distance, by cargo?]  The work seems doable even in the snow, and the pay appears worth it.  But I'd have to hire a helper.  I wonder if that task is on me to find.

$20/hour driving job

Wednesday, December 18, 2019
I have been trying to complete an application at Staples for a Delivery Driver position, but I have been having "technical difficulties."  The chat lady, Olivia, was actually quite helpful.  She directed me to a phone number to use for technical issues.

Her default introduction is,
Hi! I'm Olivia, your personal job assistant at Staples! You can ask me anything about our business, culture, team and more.
I replied
Thanks, Olivia. I am having difficulty signing/logging in. At the sign-in page, my username and password are defaulted; however, when I click the button to proceed to the next page, the site doesn't recognize me. So I try the "forgot password" and or "forgot username," and the site doesn't recognize my email either, as though I am not connected at all to your site. Can you help me? Thanks.

She wrote back,
If you are experiencing a technical issue submitting your application, please contact our help desk at 888-490-4747.
So, I will call this morning. I called and got a voicemail that announced that they were in a meeting, and that no one was available to take my call.  The voicemail suggested submitting a guest ticket at the online hub.  O, what joys.

Deliver for the USPS.

A Repo Agent.

Though they pay a full dollar more per hour, I didn't want to work for Staples because I don't want too many reminders of my Fed Ex job where I delivered to their Brighton warehouse.  Plus, knowing that I would be delivering office supplies just kind of kills my spirit.  But it would have been an extra $160/month for me.  That's a quarter of my rent.

Medical Courier in Aurora.  This wouldn't be so bad.  They want drivers with HIPAA knowledge.  I'll look into that.  HIPAA stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.

Estimator at Garney Construction in Denver.  The only problem is I don't have any construction experience and certainly no experience with the apps that the industry uses.

Quest Diagnostics courier.

Exempt v. Non-Exempt Employees

One of the biggest differences between exempt and non-exempt employees is overtime pay.  An exempt employee is not entitled to overtime pay by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Instead, exempt employees are given a salary, and they are expected to finish the tasks required of them, whether it takes 30 hours or 50. Exempt employees are also excluded from other FLSA protections afforded non-exempt employees.

To be exempt, an employee must earn a minimum of $455 per week, or $23, 660 per year in the form of a salary, instead of on an hourly basis.
The most common roles considered exempt include professional, executive, outside sales, and administrative.

On the flip side, non-exempt employees must be paid overtime--one-and-a-half times their hourly rate, for any hours worked beyond 40 each week.  As the name implies, they are not exempt from FLSA regulations
