Enterprise Car Rental offers a 2019
Chevrolet Express Cargo Van for $285 a week. Note the features. So for $300 a week, I can earn $250 to $350 a day.So if I cleared $350 a day for the week, that
means I’d clear $1,400 a week.
Their red tractors and white reefer
trailers with bold lion crests are easy to recognize.
You’ll see thousands of them on
highways, in loading docks, and at truck stops across the country on any given
day, but finding drivers to fill all those seats isn’t easy.
Getting a CDL is vital to becoming a
professional truck driver.
CR England partners with Premier
Truck Driving Schools to train new recruits interested in getting their
commercial driver’s licenses.
The company offers zero-tuition, paid
CDL training, and operates truck driving schools in the following locations:
·Valparaiso, Indiana
·Fontana, California
·Salt Lake City, Utah
·Cedar Hill, Texas
·Atlanta, Georgia
However, where you attend CR England
CDL school may not be a simple matter of geography and convenience.
Each location has its own criteria,
so you’ll need to discuss your situation with your recruiter.
Now let’s take a look at what you can
expect from CR England Training.
Company-sponsored CDL training is
provided for those who meet CR England’s requirements and graduate from the driving
school.
Their training is divided into two
components.
DURING PHASE 1 STUDENTS WILL:
·Stay in a company-paid hotel room with lots of other students.
·Spend between 10 and 17 days in the classroom and on campus
·Learn about safety, equipment, hours-of-service regulations,
driving, backing, and shifting
·Spend approximately 1 month accumulating 150 hours of
behind-the-wheel time with a professional driver-trainer
Trainers are encouraged to share
their industry knowledge and personal experiences with students.
However, you should know that many
have less than 6 months experience.
DURING PHASE 2:
Phase 2 involves two or more recent Phase 1 graduates
partnered together in their own truck.
This system allows them to learn together and help one
another while building on their real-world skillsets.
Phase 2 generally takes about 5 months to complete, and
since they’re actually interacting with shippers and receivers and hauling
freight, drivers can request home time just like fully independent ones.
According to their website…
“C.R. England values work-life balance and strives to get our
trainee-drivers home within two weeks of a request being submitted.”
As always, it’s wise to take such statements with
skepticism.
WHAT
STUDENTS SAY – CR ENGLAND TRAINERS
From our extensive
research, we’ve found that previous students’ experiences are all over the
place.
·Many claim their instructors were
helpful and professional.
·Others had horror stories about poor
working conditions, inadequate training, filthy trucks, and the inability to
get home.
Either way, for
many students it should provide sufficient opportunity to learn in a
not-too-stressful environment.
But much of it
depends on who you’re teamed with.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR CR ENGLAND TRAINING SCHOOL
Though you’ll want
to double-check before attending one of England’s schools, now prospective
drivers must:
·Be at least 21-year-old (those 23 and
under must have a clean driving record)
·Have a satisfactory work history
·Finish all portions of the
application
·Pass a drug screening
·Pass a DOT physical
·Provide a current and valid Social
Security card (cannot be laminated or copied)
·Pass a criminal background check
·Agree to abide by the company’s ‘No
Firearm’ policy
WHAT
TO EXPECT AT ORIENTATION
CR England’s
Premier Truck Driving Schools cover travel and lodging costs for students
attending their CDL License Programs.
This was helpful.Indeed shows how much the average truck driver gets paid per mile.I’ve seen these numbers but could never estimate what an average might be or how the average is calculated.
3.
PEST CONTROL. Buy supplies off Amazon to treat houses.
4. BUY A LAUNDRY SERVICE.Contract with a laundromat. Partner with a laundromat and contract hotels, apartment complexes, middle source provider. Go to a laundromat, ask to use their equipment for a 1/3 of the price during non-peak hours. Find people who are too tired and rich, and they don't want to do their laundry. Good luck with that. How many people will fess up to that? You say, "I'll do your laundry for $25 a load, and you take it to the laundry and you do it for $2 a load. A guy in New York who runs a laundromat makes $2.9 million/year. Would you be willing to do this? He has 1 employee. No start-up money. Run 3 or 4 washers?
5. CAR DETAILING. $35 to $50/hour. Get your steamers, better equipment. He owns a couple of Ford GTs.
6. GUTTER CLEANING. $200. Some folks earn $100 a couple times a week.
7. MOVING SERVICE. Pulling furniture out of a trailer.
8. MOW LAWNS. A friend at 17-years-old started a lawn-mowing company. He made $45k his first year mowing grocery stores and commercial yards. Had people on monthly and weekly contracts, making $350 to $500/month per location. Made $45,000 in his first year of operation. People who've borrowed their equipment as a start-up. "I will mow your yard for free if you let me have your riding lawnmower." Or, "I'll mow your yard for a year for free if you let me have your weed-eater," stuff like that. They negotiated themselves into all the free equipment.
9. DOG-WALKING & DOG GROOMING. Combine them or separate the businesses. Million-dollar business in Ohio, Dog Grooming and Dog Walking business. Walk pets, groom pets turned into dog boarding. They are 3 weeks out if you want to have your dog taken care of.
10. WISP, or (Wireless Internet Service Provider). No home internet? He uses a cell phone. Set up wireless home internet connections. What is that? Have the internet go from your office to your home.
I wouldn't mind this driving position in Frederick.
$18/hour in Denver. $17/hour Delivery Driver. Call 720-515-8927. Driver a bus for $19/hour. Call 720-540-4540. I saw several of these Fireball Whiskey box trucks in Littleton.
Danielle
Spring scheduled the interview for me but failed in her promise to email me the
details--things like the specific McLane location and address, Louis' last
name, and specific office where the interview would be conducted. I
received no email so I called McLane. The operator was helpful on my 2nd
attempt when she connected me to HR Manager Ryan to whom I spoke and who gave
me Louis' last name, Bautista. I don't know what happened to Danielle.
I called her twice and she did not return either call by 6:10pm
Wednesday. I showed up at 9:30am on Thursday. We'll see what
happens.
