QUALCOMM & TWIC CARD

Didn't realize that so many jobs required a TWIC card.

Some trucking companies require experience with Qualcomm mobile technologies.
Some companies also require a TWIC card. eHow spells it out:
TWIC CARD
The Twic card is an identification card that contains your biographical information, photo and identifying fingerprints to allow unescorted access to maritime ports and cargo vessels. Your card data is encrypted for security. The card is tamper-proof and valid for up to five years. You are required to present the Twic card any time you need to be in maritime areas of restricted access that includes ports and vessels specified by the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002.

NOTIFICATION OF TWIC REQUIREMENT
You will be notified by your employer if you need a Twic card for access to restricted maritime areas. You should also be notified of Twic card requirements if you are a contractor supplying services to a maritime business such as hauling, loading or truck driving.

ENROLLMENT                                                                                            You must enroll for a Twic card yourself. Your employer cannot do it for you. You can fill out the pre-enrollment information online and make an appointment at an enrollment center to finish the application. Check the required documentation list for a Twic card and bring your documentation with you to your appointment. Fill out the TWIC Application Disclosure Form, get your fingerprints and photograph taken and pay the enrollment fee. The Twic card fee is $132.50 as of 2010. You can pay a reduced fee of $105.50 as of 2010 if you already have these credentials: MML, MMD, HME or FAST identification card. You will be notified as to when to pick up your Twic card at the enrollment center.

LOST OR STOLEN TWIC CARDS
If you lose your Twic card or it is stolen, you will have to report it to the Twic Help Desk (1-866-347-8942) and pay a replacement fee of $60. You will receive a replacement number which you will bring to the enrollment center where you originally obtained your Twic card to pick up the replacement card. The wait for a replacement card may be up to two weeks.

TWIC CARD CONFISCATION
Your Twic card goes with you if you change jobs and work for another maritime agency. The Transportation Security Administration owns the card and stipulates that the only time an employer can confiscate a Twic card is if you are working in the United States on a visa and the visa or the work for which it was granted expires.
